Style & Design
Despite being the same frame and body style, there’s a few notable differences between the VW Golf vs. VW Golf GTI. The VW Golf GTI includes some more performance-based style and components. The more noticeable of these are the red brake calipers. However, from behind the wheel it’s easy to get a feel for the sport suspension. The VW Golf doesn’t include the sporty components found on the VW Golf GTI, but it certainly is the starting point for the other’s style and appearance.
While the VW Golf GTI offers a more sporty performance and style, the VW Golf offers some added comforts in the form of driver-assistance technology features. These features utilize exterior-mounted sensors that are used to measure the speed of the vehicle and its distance from the object ahead.
The Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking work together to detect an object in the vehicle’s path that could potentially result in a collision. The system then adds brake pressure to reduce the severity of impact as well as giving you a window to stop the vehicle completely. The included Blind Spot Monitor notifies you of a vehicle approaching your blind spot, so you can avoid a crash while changing lanes.
