2016 Volkswagen Jetta Review
New for the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, a 1.4-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine now brings the number of available engine options up to four. So what does that mean for drivers in the Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, and Rancho Santa Margarita area? It’s just one more way that Volkswagen is helping you to build the perfect sedan to meet your needs.
In this 2016 Volkswagen Jetta review provided by the Norm Reeves Volkswagen Superstore in Irvine, we’ll go over these engine options in addition to the car’s unique design and technology features.
Volkswagen Jetta Design
The inside of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was designed to be both spacious and comfortable. To achieve those goals, Volkswagen starts with 38.1 inches of legroom in the backseat, ample space for your adult-sized passengers.
To help keep the cabin clear, the Volkswagen Jetta features a 15.5-cubic-foot trunk, which can be expanded if needed by folding down the 60/40 split rear seat. You can also utilize the convenient pass-through to accommodate longer cargo items, such as skis, while still seating two backseat passengers.
Performance of the VW Jetta
As mentioned before, the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta has three unique engines to choose from to allow drivers to balance power, performance, and efficiency. New for the 2016 model year is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine. Using direct injection, this powerful engine can maximize every drop of fuel to provide 150 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
Engine option number two is a slightly larger four-cylinder engine at 1.8 liters. Using direct injection and turbocharged technology, this third-generation EA888 engine increases horsepower to 170 while still providing 184 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter TSI engine, on the other hand, offers 207 lb-ft of torque and an exciting 210 horsepower. Responsible for this boost in power is the four-cylinder engine’s double-overhead cam, 16 valves, and turbocharged technology.
The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta features a new MIB II touchscreen infotainment system that quickly puts all of the latest entertainment and information right at your fingertips. The intuitive color display reacts to familiar gestures, such as swiping and pinch zooming, so you can easily navigate to the features you want. With a 5-inch and a 6.3-inch screen available, you’ll be able to access the standard rearview camera, available navigation, plentiful audio options, and more.
Speaking of audio, the 2016 Jetta 1.8T SEL Premium, GLI SE, and GLI SEL all come standard with a 400-watt, nine-speaker Fender Premium Audio System. Featuring a powerful trunk-mounted subwoofer, this Fender and Panasonic collaboration will practically bring your morning playlist to life.
